The Pulse of Ararat

“I am the echo returning to light”
Behind the song

An ancient mountain transmits its memory into the future.

The Pulse of Ararat imagines memory as a signal that can cross centuries. Stone, snow and earth retain names long after human voices disappear, and the narrator discovers that the mountain is not silent at all. It is broadcasting ancestry into a future capable of hearing it.

Duduk provides the human breath of the piece while vocal trance and progressive symphonic rock create the forward motion. The central tension is deliberately impossible: something profoundly old travels through a musical language associated with the future, and neither side loses its identity.

Lyrics

The Pulse of Ararat

Can you hear me? Beyond the stone Beyond the years I am not gone
I woke beneath a crimson sky Where silent mountains never die The snow remembered every name The earth still held an ancient flame The earth still held an ancient flame
A voice was sleeping in the ground A breath without a human sound It crossed the centuries alone Through shattered stars and buried stone
Every heartbeat Every scar Travels farther Than we are
Every whisper Every sign Waits forever To cross the line
I hear the mountain calling my name Through ancient breath and electric flame Carry me over the edge of the night I am the echo returning to light
I hear the old world under my skin Calling the future, drawing me in Out of the silence, out of the dark I carry the pulse I carry the spark
The towers shine below the snow With coded prayers in afterglow The satellites begin to turn Around the fires that never burn
I touch the stone, the signal wakes A silver river starts to break And every soul the years erased Returns as light across my face
Every heartbeat Every scar Travels farther Than we are
Every promise Left behind Lives inside The mountain’s mind
I hear the mountain calling my name Through ancient breath and electric flame Carry me over the edge of the night I am the echo returning to light
I hear the old world under my skin Calling the future, drawing me in Out of the silence, out of the dark I carry the pulse I carry the spark
I was born in another age I was written on a burning page I was carried by the winter air Long before you knew I was there
No machine can silence the land No empire can bury the hand That carved one word into the stone:
Remember Remember You are not alone
Call me through the fire Call me through the snow Call me from the world I used to know
Higher Higher Let the signal climb
Higher Higher Through the walls of time
I hear the mountain calling my name Through ancient breath and electric flame Carry me over the edge of the night I am the echo returning to light
I hear the old world under my skin Calling the future, drawing me in Out of the silence, out of the dark I carry the pulse I carry the spark
We are the voices nothing could tame We are the memory inside the flame Over the cities, over the stars The pulse of Ararat Still beats in our hearts
I carry the pulse I carry the spark
